{"id":203,"date":"2009-03-21T12:45:13","date_gmt":"2009-03-21T10:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/warriorshepherd.com\/blog\/?p=203"},"modified":"2011-08-31T15:26:57","modified_gmt":"2011-08-31T13:26:57","slug":"the-23rd-psalm-devotional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/warriorshepherd.com\/blog\/the-23rd-psalm-devotional\/","title":{"rendered":"The 23rd Psalm&#8211;from &#8220;The Gift of Psalms&#8221; Devotional"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>I really have never been a fan of the 23rd Psalm-I guess it always seemed a little &#8220;soft&#8221; for my tastes.\u00a0 But I read the following devotional from  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1418534374?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=warrior-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1418534374\">The Gift of Psalms Devotional<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=warrior-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1418534374\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/> (which I will post a review of soon) and I thought it was pretty good.\u00a0 I am teaching Servanthood at our Leadership Academy right now and I think the concept of a &#8220;shepherd&#8217;s heart&#8221; ties very closely to the servant heart of Christ.\u00a0 Here it goes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Lord, the Shepherd of His People<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps one of the most well-known passages in the Bible, Psalm 23 was written as a tender and comforting testament to God&#8217;s loving care of believers.\u00a0 The imagery of Psalm 23 draws heavily from David&#8217;s experience as a shepherd and points to Jesus, our Saviour, who said, &#8220;I am the good shepherd&#8221; (John 10:11).<\/p>\n<p>David knew the requirements of being a good shepherd: provision, protection, and guidance of his flock.\u00a0 He knew that his sheep needed him and he would go to great lengths to protect even one lamb that wandered away.\u00a0 In saying, &#8220;The Lord is my shepherd,&#8221; David declares God&#8217;s sufficient and complete care of His people.\u00a0 And to that statement he adds, &#8220;I shall not want&#8221; (v. 1).\u00a0 We are the sheep, and the Shepherd attends to our daily needs&#8211;and the reserves of His nourishment and grace never run dry (v. 2) <em>[Amen !
