But yet, we forget that we could eat in some places in Africa for $7 a day (a high estimate) and bring a tent and sleeping bag to sleep in wherever you couldn’t stay with friends. And with the myriad of internet businesses and opportunities and talents that we all have, it wouldn’t be hard to sustain a side “tent-making” business. (Need some ideas & inspiration, try the The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss)

But then you say that you must be connected at all times, plus you have to update your family on your safety and ask your mentors for advice? Most large cities in India, Eastern China, and 95% of Thailand have 3G or GPRS cellular, with which you can access the internet free with a Kindle 3G (and can hold up to 3500 books and hold a charge for weeks)

And then there’s the airplane ticket, the language, the poor safety and hygiene, … yes, there are many reasons not to go.

But what is the cost of not going?

Do you really believe what you say you believe: the promises of God, and the original challenge of Christ?

So then why don’t you go?

So I challenged the current G42 interns to commit to at least one year after they graduate from our Leadership Academy, if they didn’t have a ready plan, to GO and plant churches somewhere in the world. We would prepare them, provide home base support, and then bring them back here to report on the churches they have planted. It can be done… so why aren’t we doing it? I’ve heard enough excuses about a coddled generation, about too much risk in the world today, about finances being a problem; all of these are just that–excuses. So the challenge is out there, for any current or past G42 grads, we’ll help you get there–just GO.

Disclosure of Material Connection: Some of the links in the post above are “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission.
