All-powerful.\u00a0\u00a0All-knowing.\u00a0 Eternal.\u00a0 Creator of the universe, and everything that is in it.<\/p>\n

Eternal.\u00a0 Perfect.\u00a0 Just.\u00a0 Merciful.\u00a0 Loving.<\/p>\n

God\u00a0of the Angel Armies.\u00a0 (my personal favorite, obviously.)<\/p>\n

All of these would describe, in the view of the vast majority of the world, the God of the universe.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0He is also called Yahweh,\u00a0and has called himself “I AM.”\u00a0 If you can wrap your mind around that– “I AM,” that\u00a0basically sums it up.\u00a0 He is.\u00a0 He was<\/em> before time began, and we be<\/em> forever.\u00a0 He doesn’t change, and His promises from thousands of years ago still are true today.<\/p>\n

And he’s my friend.<\/strong><\/p>\n

God is Seeking for Us<\/h2>\n

Heavenly Father, yes.\u00a0 I respect and fear His awesome power, yes.\u00a0 But still, He is my friend and He desperately seeks for my heart.\u00a0 And yours.\u00a0 We sung “I am a friend of God” the other day at church, which got me to thinking.\u00a0 I have to admit, it took a while for me to agree to the words of this\u00a0song… my first thought was, “Who are we<\/em> to say that the all-powerful\u00a0creator, the Father, is ‘our buddy’?”\u00a0 <\/p>\n

But Abraham was a friend of God (Isaiah 41:8,\u00a0James 2:23), and I am a descendant of Abraham, heir to the promises of God,\u00a0and there’s no reason that\u00a0I can’t be a friend of God.<\/p>\n

“I’m With The Big Guy.”<\/h2>\n

Think back to middle school now … … how great was it when “the cool guy,” or the biggest guy in the class (maybe he skipped a few grades) was your friend?\u00a0 You could walk around, head held high, not worried about what others thought and not in fear of harm.\u00a0 [Okay, maybe it was just me… but go with me here.]<\/em><\/p>\n

Now, multiply that by about …oh …\u00a0infinity<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Take a minute and think about that.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

THE ALL POWERFUL, CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE IS YOUR PERSONAL FRIEND.\u00a0\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

I don’t think we actually think about our inheritance, our standing in the universe, often enough.\u00a0 If we just actually accept his love,\u00a0which he gives\u00a0unconditionally and graciously, we can walk with our heads held high, not afraid of what the world has to throw at us.\u00a0 Not afraid of what people think of us.\u00a0 Because we know, that we are friends of God and can have a personal relationship\u00a0with him\u00a0through his\u00a0Son.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
