If you know us, this was a big day in the Hearn household. Rebecca had homeschooled the girls in Colorado Springs and Phoenix, but we wanted to do things a little differently here. We wanted to get integrated into the community here, plus Rebecca had reached her maximum capacity juggling Ben and teaching a 5 and a 7 year old. So we enrolled the girls in school in our small village. Here’s the photos we took that chronicled the big event:
Step 1: The night before, take a nice bath. Then quickly jump into bed, there’s no heating here!
Step 2: Dress up really nice. Since this is Europe, be sure to use as many colors as possible.
Step 3: Eat a good breakfast
Step 4: *CENSORED* due to much crying, screaming, and clinging.
Step 5: Parents (make that Dad–Mommy would be a mess herself!) slowly back out the door when children are distracted and then make a rapid getaway. Hey, Spanish school is only from 9 to 2 anyway. It’s like a half-day, right?
Step 6: Meet the kiddos, happy and smiling, at the end of the day.
As long as there is ice cream waiting at the end of the day...
Step 7: Take to get some helado, and swap stories about bossy teachers, funny boys, new best friends, and underwear.
Happily ever after…
THAT IS SO CUTE…SO HOW ARE THEY REALLY DOING??? DO THEY KNOW ENOUGH SPANISH TO UNDERSTAND? THE KIDS ARE LEARNING IT THANKS TO YOU, FOR WHEN THEY COME TO VISIT YOU IN YOUR ONE BEDROOM APT, WE ARE FAMILY AREN’T WE!!!
HOW AWESOME! looks like they enjoyed themselves….or just the promise of deliciso helado! BUENO!!! so glad they had a good day:) here’s a toast of a cuppa to a good one tomorrow too!

I am just rolling! That was so great! They did a fantastic job (as did Mommy and Daddy, obviously!) and will appreciate all the amazing experiences someday!
