Are You Growing?

“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” — Will Rogers

To be honest, I’ve been feeling a little… stagnant lately. Sometimes I feel like I am on cruise control, and it really starts to annoy me.

Are you growing?

Growing as a person?

Growing as a family?

Growing as a organization?

Can you answer these questions honestly? If any answer is no, what will you do to fix it?

  1. good question. growth is so… nonlinear? stagnation sucks. when i’m feeling that way i try to refocus by setting shorter term goals… daily, hourly if necessary. otherwise, the cream and the clear are good for growth (ask barry bonds).

  2. Dave, nnnGreat questions, I have felt the same myself lately. I have got to say a little encouragement goes a long way. Especially from my wife. When she give me encouragement, my roots feel strong, healthy, and full of nutrients to help me grow and reach out for more. That in turn produces what people see above the ground. Thanks for your great blog. Keep it up! n

  3. I find that when I don’t feel like I’m growing, I am, in fact, growing the most. There are seasons of growth, it seems, and some are much more visible than others. The photo illustration is a great analogy — there is a lot that happens under the earth before a seed turns into a plant that breaks ground.

  4. Thanks for the encouragement Jeff. u00a0I know I am growing, but right now it’s happening very slooooowly. u00a0I’m a Type-A sort of guy, so when the action isn’t hot, I feel like something must be wrong.

  5. Consider the possibility that you are growing – just in different ways. It sounds mystical but be aware of the soul work God may be doing in you, despite your effort.
