I recently got an email from a friend that said, “How are you doing this? How do you get to a place where you can do something like this?” I told him it was easy: first read Acts 1:8, then fast for 10 days, then pray for 1.5 hours, then go to church for a month without missing a service–Poof! You’re ready!
Ok, fine, so I didn’t say that. What I did say was that I surrounded myself with people who challenged me to step into my destiny; people like Seth Barnes, Andrew Shearman, and World Racers… and then I finally took to heart what God has been saying to me my entire life: “Go.” Go care for children in need. Go lead young adults into a life that serves God. Go make a difference. Go.
I have a really nice life. I have job security, a nice health plan, a nice house. If I stayed in the Air Force, I could retire in 10 years with a nice pension and probably teach Sunday School in a nice little town. But I don’t want ‘nice’ anymore. I want victory. I want passion. I want adventure. I want to make a difference.
God’s called me long enough and loud enough. I need to go.
So, what does it take? Reckless abandon. Undignified worship. And a willingness to lay it all down. And just Go.
