Called, Commissioned, Committed

I recently read a blog by Josh Daniels, a World Racer.  He is a fellow ‘Warrior’, and has gone on a real spiritual journey these past 10 months.  Here’s an excerpt:

Some people go to school, get a good job, get married, and live in a house with a white picket fence. Some skip school and get a 9 to 5 for the rest of their lives. Some drop out of school and become a success by taking a chance on a dream. Some become famous with a special gift or talent.

We all travel down different paths to get to a place called, “success.” Why? Because America says we have to? So we can impress our friends who are slaved to thousands of dollars of debt?

I have been called to a different life. A life that is selfless. A life that puts others needs before my own. A life that requires much faith. I have given up all that I know and love, including friends, family, and comforts of the USA, to come follow Jesus Christ. So, as Jesus himself says in Matthew 10:39, ” He who has lost his life for my sake WILL find it.”

I have to admit, I’ve been one of those “white picket fence” folk, comfortable in their career.  Well, at least until about a year ago.  That’s when I told myself that I couldn’t do it any longer, that I had to start living a radical life.   Like I told Josh about his blog, ‘God’s called, Jesus commissioned, and I’ve committed.’  I’ve committed to not look back, not hold on to the easy life, but instead jump into a life of mystery–all for Christ.  I ask that you continue to pray for us as we go through this transition.
