Why Blog?

Bottom Line Up Front:

I’m not a great writer. I’m a decent teacher. I was a good military officer (and that’s where I get most of my stories). But I am a smart guy, a perfectionist, a hard worker, and I hope most of all, I am an example, or better yet, an inspiration.

Another Blog?

On top of the moutain, above the clouds, at sunriseAs you’ve noticed, I’ve revamped my blog in the past month. I have thought long and hard about whether the world needs another blog, whether what I have to say actually adds value to people or just adds to the noise. I have come to the decision that what I have to say does add value, and that there are still people that need to hear what I have to say. At the G42 Leadership Academy, I teach Leadership, Team Dynamics, Servanthood, Building a Network, and I help the interns build their dreams into reality… and I think those topics would be great fodder for this blog.

I am a firm believer in having a vision for something better, setting goals, and focusing on a mission. So let me share with you my vision, mission, and some goals for this blog:

  • Vision: To be a source of inspiration, encouragement, and connection for friends, family, and our extended family that we affectionately call “the tribe”: those folks around the world who are believing and working for a beautiful, victorious world, where all of the mess, all of the problems, all of the death and stupidity is gone.
  • Mission: To build an inter-connected, mutually-assisting network of people with the same vision. To spread The Message, my message, and my expertise and experience, to a wider audience.
  • Goals:
    — To blog at least weekly and eventually more often than that.
    — To add value to my readers and affect how they view life.
    — To allow my voice to be heard by a larger audience.
    — To help support my family as we minister in Spain (so use those advertising links you see in the sidebar–it supports my family!)

What does Warrior Shepherd mean?

“Warrior/Shepherd” is a concept, a vision, an ethos that I believe embodies what we, as spiritual beings, should be aiming for. “Warrior” because in today’s society, the world needs men (and women) that recognize the spiritual battle that is raging around them and be ready to unashamedly lead others into a relationship with Jesus Christ. “Shepherd” because Christ-followers today must not only grasp the power of Jesus Christ in their lives, but be ready to serve others and must have compassion for the poor, the unloved, the unfathered, and the lost. I’m trying to get there… I recommend the journey for you as well.
